Who: 

  • Our CIT program will be a three to four-weekfour week program designed for rising 7th and 8th-grade8th grade students who may be interested in eventually working at camp as a counselor when they are of the legal age to do so. ​​​​

What: 

  • CITs will spend half of their day with experienced counselors and groups of children, getting hands-on experience learning how to supervise children along with assisting camp staff. 

  • For the other half of the day, they will participate as campers inon different activities that tie into our themes each week. 

  • They will get first-handfirst hand experience working with the Director and Camp Supervisors to see what actually goes on behind the scenes at camp. This will be an opportunity for your child to develop into a responsible and experienced individual.

When and Cost: 

  • There will be 2 separate sessions. Space is going to be very limited per session. At the time CITs are registered, they will receive an electronic CIT application form.  That form is to be completed and returned within 7 days of when they registered. After May 1st, registration for the CIT program will be closed. Upon review of all CIT applications, your child will be informed if they were selected to participate in the program.  

  • The cost for Session 1 is $320. The cost for Session 2 is $245.

    • Session 1 will run from 6/23/25 to 7/18/25, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

    • Session 2 will run from 7/21/25 to 8/8/25, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Evaluation and Future: 

  • At the end of the session, CITs will be evaluated by a Director/Supervisor at camp to address strengths and weaknesses.  

  • Upon completion of the program, CITs with a good work ethic, are responsible, and caring MAY be offered the opportunity for employment at Mantua Township School District’s Summer Camp as a Junior Counselor if they so choose when they are eligible to work.  This will be dependent upon the staffing needs of the camp the following summer. 

  • In addition, all hours spent at camp will be considered volunteer hours for the purposes of confirmation, college applications, or per any high school requirements.  

  • Some CITs may also be eligible for a letter of reference from the Director or Camp Supervisors for employment elsewhere and/or college applications.
